The Commissioner for the Protection of Equality, Milan Antonijević, warned that the statement made by the Vice President of the Assembly of Vojvodina, Nemanja Zavišić, who wrote in a Facebook post that “all Croats are Ustashe,” is unacceptable and constitutes a violation of the Law on the Prohibition of Discrimination.

Vojvodina is a multinational environment in which around 2 percent of the population are members of the Croatian national minority, which makes this kind of labeling and stigmatization particularly dangerous, the Commissioner stated, adding that it is especially concerning that such a message comes from a high-ranking provincial official, who should be protecting the equality of all citizens and contributing to the preservation of interethnic trust.
