Commissioner for Protection of Equality strongly condemns death threats, addressed to organizations that deal with human rights, and expects an urgent reaction from the authorities. The safety and basic human rights and freedoms must not be endangered for people who are advocating and fighting for them, warns Jankovic.

These threatening events and atmosphere must be stopped. However, this will not disappear by itself and therefore all participants in the public life must be aware of every single word they say, media must cancel publishing of offensive statements and inappropriate qualifications, while the authorities must undertake all measures in order to prevent incitement of hatred and violence, causing of fear and creating of hostile and offensive environment for any individual in our society, concludes Commissioner.
