Commissioner for the Protection of Equality Brankica Jankovic strongly condemns the incident that took place in Novi Sad, when two young men of Albanian nationality were beaten and one of them is in a life-threatening situation.

Commissioner expects that all authorities will undertake all measures to find and punish the perpetrators, as well as to prevent violence, causing of all types of hate and intolerance towards national, religious and other minorities.

Such cases are harmful for the further progress of democratic society, grounded in respecting of human rights and equality of all citizens, states Commissioner and emphasizes that Serbia should be the state in which rights of all people are respected, regardless of their nationality, ethnic background or any other personal characteristic.
