The third phase of the project for the empowerment of rural women began with the training in Zlatibor

Health is the most important thing, but we often forget about it, especially women, who care about others more than themselves. That’s why we chose this extremely important topic to start the third phase of the project “Improving the position of women and girls in rural areas”, said Commissioner for the Protection of Equality, Brankica Janković, at the opening of the two-day training for rural women, held in Zlatibor.

We are looking forward to having the opportunity to socialize and share knowledge and experience through this project, which we are organizing with the support of UN Women and the Embassy of the Kingdom of Norway in Serbia. Such projects have proven to be extremely important because they respond to the specific needs of rural women and significantly contribute to improving the quality of their lives and the community, Commissioner Janković pointed out.

The training for women from the regions of Eastern, Western, and Southern Serbia began with a lecture by endocrinologist Dr. Vesna Dimitrijević Srećković on nutrition and prevention of hormonal conditions, which was followed by a lecture on mechanisms of protection against discrimination in the field of health care at the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality. The second day of education was dedicated to the role of sport and its importance in preserving women’s health, while karateka Tanja Petrović gave a lecture.
