Commissioner for the Protection of Equality, Brankica Janković, opened the Porridge Festival, which was held for the fifth time in the village of Ježevica near Čačak. This is one of the five local events supported by the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality within the project ” Improvement of the situation of women and girls in rural areas”, which is implemented with the support of UN Women and the Embassy of Norway.
Commissioner Janković pointed out the importance of women in rural areas, who, in addition to their important role as mothers, housewives, and wives, perform hard agricultural work but also start small agricultural businesses, thus influencing not only the survival of their families but also the preservation of villages and traditions.
In addition to the competition for the best-cooked porridge, a cultural and artistic program was held, as well as sports games, and the winners were announced by Luka Grujanac, the best student of his generation at the Elementary School “Vladislav Petković Dis” in Zablaće.
