Women entrepreneurs from the areas surrounding Priboj, Negotin, and Čačak, engaged in the production of food, vegetables, herbs, and wine, participated in a study visit to Croatia, Slovenia, and Italy.
The goal of the visit was to meet with women owners of farms and family estates involved in the production of organic food, wine, homemade products, and hospitality services, to learn about how they operate, and to exchange experiences with them.
The first stop on the trip was the Kezel family winery with a restaurant and tourist accommodation facilities in Šumećani, followed by an overnight stay at the Strle Tourist Farm in Slovenia. The next day, they visited a medieval castle in the Italian town of Gorizia and toured the Zoff organic cheese farm nearby. This was followed by a visit to the city of Udine and to an ethno-tourism facility near the Tenuta Valdomini S. Agricola R.L. winery. On the final day, they visited the famous Postojna Cave and the bio-restaurant Trnulja in Slovenia, which, in addition to food, also offers oils, beer, brandies, and other homemade products made from ingredients they grow themselves.
The study visit was organized within the framework of the project “Empowering Women in Rural Areas of Serbia” by the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality and UN Women in Serbia, with the support of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Norway in Belgrade.
