Regarding the numerous media issues related to the recommendation to the Minister for Innovation and Technological Development Nenad Popovic to apologize to the LGBT community due to a discriminatory statement, the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality Brankica Jankovic said that the Law on the Prohibition of Discrimination is clear, the same for all, that it applies equally to all citizens of Serbia, including the Minister, and that in this case the 90-day deadline for the consideration of whether the violation of the law and the recommendation for its removal was violated was respected.
Given that the legally prescribed deadline for Minster Popovic to act upon the recommendation is not yet due, Commissioner states that she will not comment anything. After the expiration of the deadline for acting upon the recommendation, we will continue to act in accordance with the statutory authorizations.
“I will continue to stick to the Constitution and the laws of our country in my work,” said Commissioner Jankovic.
