Acting within the framework of the legally prescribed competencies to monitor the implementation of laws concerning the prohibition of discrimination and recommend to the public authorities and other persons measures to achieve equality (Art. 33, items 7 and 9 of the Law on the Prohibition of Discrimination, “Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia” No. 22/2009), acting upon the adoption of the Decision on Financial Assistance to Married Couples, No. 011-92/10-10-1 of the City Assembly of Jagodina, dated 23 December 2010, the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality gives the following

RECOMMENDATION

The Assembly of the City of Jagodina will remove from the Decisions on financial assistance for married couples, no. 011-92/10-10-1 of the City Assembly of Jagodina, dated 23 December 2010, conditions that violated the principle of equality by denying the right to financial assistance to certain categories of citizens of Jagodina, based on their personal characteristics, namely those who concluded an extra-marital community, who were not born in Jagodina, who had children from extra-marital communities before getting married, or who lived in extra-marital communities before getting married.
