Playing songs at a school event whose lyrics incite national intolerance is worrying and inadmissible, especially because it concerns children of primary school age and an event held at school, said the Commissioner regarding media texts about the event at the elementary school “Vasa Stajić” in Novi Sad.  In order for all the facts to be established, it is necessary for the school to take adequate measures in accordance with the law and regulations, Janković stated.

It is devastating if the children chose the controversial song for the school performance, and it is extremely worrying if someone from the teaching staff helped them in the realization of such a choice.  The school is not a place where content that has any offensive connotation or wider intolerance is released, but a place where the spirit of unity, understanding and non-discrimination is developed, Commissioner Janković pointed out.
