The Council of European Business Associations and Chambers of Commerce in Serbia (CEBAC) has officially joined the “Partnership for Equality” initiative with the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality. On behalf of CEBAC, the Charter was signed by the Council’s Secretary General, Sanja Ivanić, who emphasized that CEBAC represents over 2,000 companies committed to anti-discrimination policies and the implementation of ESG principles, which promote sustainable business practices and social responsibility.
Commissioner Brankica Janković underlined that this topic concerns all of us, as discrimination in employment and in the workplace continues to be among the most common issues addressed in the Commissioner’s work over the years. That is why it is of vital importance to have the business community stand on the side of human rights and equality.
“Having employers who are willing to foster a healthy, encouraging, and humane working environment—an inclusive and fair workplace free from discrimination—contributes to building mutual trust and a business culture in which everyone has the right to be valued for their work and knowledge,” the Commissioner added.
Joining the Partnership for Equality represents a shared commitment to the principles of equality and tolerance, as well as a continuous effort to develop and strengthen non-discriminatory business practices.
Speakers at the event also included Wouter van Houwelingen, President of the Dutch-Serbian Business Association; Hugo van Veghel, President of the Belgian-Serbian Business Association; and Dragan Stokić, President of the French-Serbian Chamber of Commerce.
Other members of CEBAC include: the British-Serbian Chamber of Commerce, the Chamber of Italian-Serbian Businesspeople, Confindustria Serbia – Association of Italian Industrialists, the Croatian Business Club, the German-Serbian Chamber of Commerce, the Hellenic Business Association of Serbia, the Nordic Business Alliance, the Polish-Serbian Chamber of Commerce, the Slovenian Business Club, the Irish-Serbian Chamber of Commerce, the Commercial Section of the Austrian Embassy, and the Swiss-Serbian Chamber of Commerce.
