Acting within the statutory competence to monitor the implementation of the laws on the prohibition of discrimination and recommend measures for achieving equality to the public authorities and individuals to achieve equality, the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality refers to the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development the following

RECOMMENDATION ON MEASURES FOR ACHIEVING EQUALITY

Commissioner for the Protection of Equality recommends to the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development:

– To collaborate with persons with disabilities or their representatives, as well as other experts in the field of communication and information accessibility, in order to review the problems identified so far, as well as the most efficient ways of typhlotechnic and typhlodidactic adaptation of textbooks, by appropriate adaptation of content or format, that is, script and format, in order to make them accessible to students with developmental problems, that is, disabilities, in accordance with their needs and capabilities, and in order to produce a precise technical specification for securing the procurement of customized textbooks.

– When securing the procurement of custom textbooks before the beginning of each school year, to determine timely the precise technical specification of the ways of adjusting the content or format, that is, the script and textbook format, so that it does not allow the publishers to deviate from the given textbook adaptation method.

The Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development (hereinafter: the Ministry) shall notify the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality of the planned measures in order to implement this recommendation, within 30 days from the date of receipt of the recommendation of measures for achieving equality.

No appeal or any other remedy is permitted against this recommendation on measures for achieving equality, as it does not decide on the rights and obligations of legal entities.
