National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia elected Brankica Jankovic for Commissioner for Protection of Equality, for a five-year period. This is the second time that Jankovic gained the confidence of National Parliament to lead Commissioner for Protection of Equality – an independent state institution for protection and improvement of equality and all deputy groups have supported her re-election. 178 out of 180 MPs present voted for Jankovic.
In discussion that preceded the voting, deputies in National Parliament assessed that Commissioner Jankovic managed to raise institution to a higher level in the previous mandate, due to her responsible and professional work, which resulted in significant improvement of equality for all citizens and society in general. Deputies said that Commissioner has extensive and responsible job to do and expressed their expectations that she would perform it in devoted and professional manner, as she did earlier.
Commissioner Jankovic held position of Commissioner in period from May 2015 to May 2020.
