Commissioner for the Protection of Equality Brankica Jankovic welcomes the Minister of Health decision to dismiss the management and solve the problem in Special Hospital for Internal Diseases in Vrnjacka Banja, where dialysis machines have been out of function since ten years ago. This decision came after Commissioner issued a recommendation of measures aimed to the achievement of equality to the Ministry of Health, Republic Fund for Health Insurance and Special Hospital for Internal Diseases in Vrnjacka Banja, at the end of the last year, in order to overcome obstacles that have been preventing the work of dialysis department for years. Our citizens in need for dialysis have been traveling to other places, which additionally increased the expenditures of health care system. Proper functioning of this department is of crucial significance, having in mind that Vrnjacka Banja is a tourist location so that kidney patients have the opportunity to choose a place for rehabilitation and vacation.

Commissioner also stressed that this decision is important for providing the right to appropriate health care for persons who receive dialysis treatments, equally with citizens who use other health services. She said that this case also indicates that acting upon recommendation is a common interest of all citizens.
