The Commissioner for the Protection of Equality, Brankica Janković, met with the recently appointed United Nations Resident Coordinator in Serbia Matilde Mordt, with whom she discussed the biggest challenges in realizing human rights and protection against discrimination, including combating gender-based violence.
Janković introduced Mordt to the Commissioner’s role and responsibilities, the situation in the field of equality protection, and some of the institution’s most important activities in this area.
The meeting discussed possibilities for future cooperation, emphasizing activities to overcome patriarchal prejudices and entrenched narratives. Janković and Mordt agreed, among other things, that it is necessary to design and implement more education for boys and men to inform them of the essence and advantages of gender equality.
