Ambassador of Israel to Serbia, Yahel Vilan, visited the institution of Commissioner for Protection of Equality and met Commissioner Brankica Jankovic with whom he discussed the activities of the institution, with regards to challenges of global rise of anti-Semitism and its new shapes, especially in digital sphere, as well as the challenges of protecting human rights worldwide.
Ambassador Vilan welcomed Commissioner Jankovic’s reactions to individual anti-Semitic incidents and her continuous reminding of the importance of respecting the anti-fascist combat, as well as of preserving the memory of Holocaust and victims of all Nazi crimes from the World War 2.
Commissioner and Ambassador discussed the importance of implementation of innovative technologies for improving the position of persons with disabilities, such was didactic gear, that Commissioner and Ambassador handled to the school for children with seeing impairments „Veljko Ramadanovic“ in Zemun, as part of Mashav Israeli international cooperation for development. Furthermore, they discussed how digital technologies, internet and social media can be a powerful tool for combating gender based violence, since there are many applications and algorithms are already in use, such as the one presented by the organization Lil Ben-Ami.
