Meeting between Commissioner Janković and Minister Doughty

Commissioner for the Protection of Equality, Brankica Janković, met with the Minister of State for Europe, North America and Overseas Territories of the United Kingdom, Stephen Doughty, with whom she discussed the importance of preserving stability in complex times, the role of young people and women in the community, as well as the problems of young people on the European continent and in our country. Janković and Doughty talked about discrimination as a very harmful social phenomenon, against which, as well as against stereotypes and prejudices that make life difficult for women and men, we must all fight together – civil society, media, educational and cultural institutions, but also credible institutions as a pillar in this challenging time.

Minister Doughty visited the exhibition organized by the Commissioner in the House of Jevrem Grujić “Great Women of Serbian Culture and Science”, where he was introduced to the lives and achievements of exceptional women who changed Serbian society for the better. Among them are two British women who helped us in the most difficult times of the First World War, building unbreakable bridges of friendship between our countries.

Journalists Jovana Gligorijević and MIlica Šarić, Director of the House of Jevrem Grujić museum, Branka Conić, as well as the UK Ambassador to Serbia, Edward Ferguson, Clare Sears and Jeremy Lang from the British Council, with whose help the aforementioned exhibition was organized, attended the conversation.
