Commissioner for the Protection of Equality, Brankica Jankovic, strongly condemns the behavior of a group of young men from Priboj who celebrated Bozic with songs propagating hate speech against members of the Muslim faith community.
The commissioner assessed that it was good that the MUP reacted quickly and pointed out that it is important to adequately sanction the perpetrators, because it must be shown that such outbursts, which cause fear and a hostile environment, will not be tolerated, especially when having in mind that this was not the first time that such manifestations of religious and national intolerance occured in Priboj, which is a multi-ethnic environment. Jankovic pointed out that Serbia is the state of all its citizens, regardless of national or religious affiliation, and added that such outbursts should be condemned by everyone, and that such incidents should not be allowed to raise tensions.
