Commissioner for Protection of Equality Brankica Jankovic and representatives of the Association of Business Women of Serbia have organized the second annual meeting dedicated to the development of women entrepreneurship in Serbia, attended by roughly 20 successful directors and owners of companies, with the aim to formulate requests that will be addressed to the Government of the Republic of Serbia.
Through regular meetings with women entrepreneurs, we have the opportunity to recognize their needs better and make maximum efforts in order to fulfill their expectations and provide exact support to women entrepreneurship. In the past year, we have prepared a number of recommendations aimed at improving the economic situation of women in Serbia, which are listed in our Regular Annual Report, stressed Jankovic. She particularly emphasized the recommendation to abolish the ban on employment in the public sector, since analyses have shown that it disproportionately affects women.
Commissioner told the women entrepreneurs that each of them was a role model for young women and girls who can learn a lot from them if they want to start their own business.
The chairwoman of the Association of Business Women, which gathers about 900 women from Serbia, Sanja Popovic Pantic
, pointed out that through these meetings they exchange experiences and ideas in order to overcome the main challenges and find solutions to support women entrepreneurship. The members of the Association presented their suggestions for improving of business conditions, while Gordana Djurdjevic, the president of the Public Advocacy Committee, presented the most significant effects of the initiatives that were accepted at the meeting last year.
