Commissioner for the Protection of Equality Brankica Jankovic discussed with Dean of the School of Electrical Engineering (ETF) Milo Tomasevic about the importance of equal participation of women and other minority groups in IT profession and also how important the development of this sector is. This meeting was held on the occasion of organization of conference about implementation of free software and open hardware (PSSOH) which will be held in October. Commissioner will give speech about equality in this area at the conference.
Commissioner Jankovic stressed that although data indicate that increased participation of women in IT industry, which is one of the most profitable, does not match with their participation at managerial positions. Commissioner stated that IT technology went so far that it may help to solve many social problems and that in this context all aspects of the implementation of equality principles should be taken into account.
Dean Tomasevic said that it is important to exchange experiences and opinions in the implementation of free software and open hardware which, he says, by definition, make citizens equal.
