The Commissioner for the Protection of Equality, Brankica Janković, strongly condemns the desecration of the grave of the longtime Belgrade Mufti Hamdija Jusufspahić, which, according to the claim of his son Mustafa Jusufspahić, has happened twice in the last month.

Serbia is the state of all its citizens, regardless of nationality and religion. Such incidents, although they do not reflect the true picture of Serbia, cause damage to the entire society, which has shown many times that it respects all our citizens, regardless of differences on any grounds.

Such shameful and individual acts of vandalism must not be tolerated and therefore the response of the authorities must always be consistent and effective.
