Covid 19 posed a great challenge to human rights institutions, but we must not allow the dilemma of whether to stand up for the protection of citizens or leave them without protection, said Commissioner for the Protection of Equality Brankica Jankovic at the online round table “Pandemic and Human rights” organized by the Provincial ombudsman.
She emphasized that all legally permitted mechanisms within the competences should be used in the protection of equality, while joint actions and appeals to the authorities should be organized through continuous pointing to problems. Citizens should be encouraged to address us, because only if we prevent the shadow to fall on respect for human rights, we will preserve the dignity of all, concluded Jankovic.
