The Commissioner for the Protection of Equality, Milan Antonijević, met with Nadežda Satarić from the “Amity” association and the Serbian Association for Alzheimer’s Disease to discuss improving the situation of older persons in our society and priorities for joint cooperation in the coming period. In addition to the traditional observance of important dates in September and October, the International Day of Older Persons and World Alzheimer’s Day, it was agreed at the meeting that this year the focus will be placed on concrete support for preserving the mental health of older persons. Dementia represents a huge challenge for every family, which is why it is crucial to develop support services that will make daily life easier for those affected and their caregivers and enable them to remain in a familiar environment. Alongside creating a stronger support network, a continuation of joint work on projects promoting active aging and enabling a better quality of life for our oldest citizens was agreed.
