Commissioner at the ESG Adria Summit in Tivat

Commissioner for the Protection of Equality, Brankica Janković, participated in the two-day ESG Adria Summit in Tivat, held under the slogan “Act now for a sustainable tomorrow” and jointly organized by Sustineri Partners and Porto Montenegro in partnership with the Government of Montenegro under the auspices of the President of Montenegro Jakov Milatović. The summit brought together business leaders, high-ranking representatives of governments and international organizations, regional experts, and civil society to discuss new solutions, initiatives, and investments aimed at a faster transition to a more sustainable future.

The summit began with a discussion on the priorities of the green energy transition and solving urgent regional challenges, such as the rule of law and the fight against corruption, led by Goran Svilanović, in which the presidents of Montenegro and Slovenia, Jakov Milatović, and Nataša Pirc Musar, participated. On that occasion, the importance of regional cooperation in facing common challenges and promoting EU accession through the preservation of human rights and democratic institutions, as well as the involvement of young people in policymaking, was highlighted.

Commissioner Janković participated in the panel discussion “Inclusive leadership: strategies for fostering diversity and cooperation”. The debate focused on overcoming gender inequality in business and society and on the challenges presented by the existing systems. The discussion highlighted the importance of networking and mentoring for women. The participants also discussed how inclusive leadership can contribute to innovation, decision-making, and creating a more productive work environment based on the principles of equality, diversity, and inclusion.

On that occasion, Janković emphasized that the most important thing is to focus, first of all, on education, changing consciousness, greater availability of information and media visibility, and conveying a new, different way of thinking to young people from an early age. Also, the Commissioner said we need as many men as possible who will be true ambassadors of equality and human rights.

Commissioner Janković’s interlocutors included Anino Emuwa, Director of Avandis Consulting, Mato Njavro, Dean of the Zagreb School of Economics, Sanela Pašić, university professor and co-founder of the Women’s Mentoring Network, and Olivera Vukajlović, Advisor to the President of Montenegro for sustainable development. The panel was moderated by Biljana Braithwaite from Sustineri Partners.
