For years now, more than one third of complaints received by Commissioner for Protection of Equality relates to discrimination in the field of work and employment, said Commissioner for Protection of Equality Brankica Jankovic at a meeting “Labor Rights are Our Rights”, organized by the Center for Democracy Foundation .
She stated that the number of complaints doesn’t reflect the real situation, that the labor rights of our citizens are violated on a daily basis, and that many citizens have not submitted complaints because of fear. That is why the Commissioner for Protection of Equality will submit a Special Report on Discrimination in Labor to the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, said Jankovic.
She said that the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality in all cases uses all legal possibilities in combating discrimination at work and in relation to work, and cited several strategic litigations, as an example. Commissioner also pointed out that in such cases the role of the media is immeasurable.
