The rights of persons with disabilities are always at the forefront of the Commissioner’s work, as is cooperation with the National Organization of Persons with Disabilities of Serbia (NOOIS), which regularly highlights issues that we strive to address jointly, emphasized Commissioner Milan Antonijević at a meeting with NOOIS Executive Director Ivanka Jovanović.
During the discussion, Jovanović pointed to the problem of the inaccessibility of public transport vehicles in Belgrade, as well as the insufficient number of vans provided by the city for the transport of persons using wheelchairs. The Commissioner stated that, in this regard, he would issue a recommendation of measures to the City of Belgrade to ensure a greater number of adapted vehicles, as well as other appropriate solutions to improve the accessibility of public transport for persons with disabilities.
At the meeting held at the NOOIS premises, also attended by Assistant Commissioner Jelena Kotević, other joint activities aimed at improving the position of persons with disabilities were discussed, with the long-standing successful cooperation set to continue.
