In order to strengthen the established regional cooperation and exchange of experiences in the area of common interest, Tatjana Jokanović, Assistant Commissioner for the Protection of Equality visited Višnja Ljubičić, Croatian Ombudsperson for Gender Equality.

They discussed competences and activities of two institutions, position of LGBT population and challenges related to the implementation of gender equality in both countries.

Particular focus of this meeting was given to the organization of the Second Regional Conference of Equality Bodies in SEE which is to be hosted by the Croatian Ombudsperson for Gender Equality in 2017. The First Regional Conference of Equality Bodies in the South-east Europe was held in Belgrade in November 2016.

Assistant Commissioner Jokanović and Ombudsperson Ljubičić also discussed concrete discrimination cases and analyzed mechanisms that influence the impact of procedures for the protection against discrimination.
