Commissioner for the Protection of Equality Brankica Janković welcomed the decision of the Ministry of Justice to appoint 17 certified sign language court interpreters and said that this would improve the position of citizens with disabilities and help them exercise their rights and strengthen their access to services.
This is an improvement that will have direct impact on decreasing discrimination, because until now there were only three certified sign language court interpreters registered in the Electronic data base, said the Commissioner and added that for years now this group has been one of the most discriminated categories and that it was necessary to work on removing other numerous and various obstacles that our citizens with disabilities face.
