The Commissioner for the Protection of Equality, Brankica Janković, participated in the inaugural meeting of the UNESCO Network of Anti-Racism and Anti-Discrimination Officials and the Ceremony marking 30 years of the “Routes of Enslaved Peoples” Programme in Paris. The meeting was dedicated to the joint fight of the states against racism and inequality and was attended by representatives of state institutions worldwide.
As a member of the Initiative Committee of the UNESCO Network of Anti-Racism and Anti-Discrimination Officials, the Commissioner emphasized at the meeting that the bodies for equality and the fight against discrimination have a key role in this transformation, and they should be supported by society in their work to combat discrimination and promote equality. With laws and public policies that recognize subtle forms of racism and discrimination, as well as the cooperation of officials and human rights experts, the exchange of knowledge, strategies, and best practices among countries, we can accelerate progress both at the national and global level, said Janković.
