The safety of children and students is a priority, and it is also important that we teach children to recognize different types of violence and discrimination, as well as that it is possible to resolve conflicts without aggression. Prejudices and differences between people do not burden children, and that is why it is important to work on their education to maintain that spirit of openness, curiosity, and acceptance of diversity while simultaneously developing empathy and a sense of solidarity, said the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality, Brankica Janković, on the occasion of the event “Together and safely through childhood.”

The event was held in the complex of the Criminal and Police University on the occasion of the beginning of the school year and the training program on recognizing violence and discrimination that will be organized in schools again this year through the project of the same name “Together safely through childhood”.

The goal of this project is for children to learn the consequences of violent behavior in real and virtual environments through workshops, socializing, and play and to acquire knowledge about safe behavior in traffic and emergency situations.

The cooperation protocol for the continuation of these informative and educational workshops, based on the interactive concept of working with students from the first to the eighth grade of all elementary schools in Serbia, was concluded by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Education, the Criminalistics and Police University, the Traffic Safety Agency, the OSCE mission in Serbia, and the Caritas Association of Serbia.
