The proceedings of the Commissioner in the case of children from Pećinci who were not enrolled in kindergarten

Regarding several journalistic questions about whether the Commissioner reacted in the case of children from Pećinci whose parents claim that their children were not enrolled in kindergarten because of their political affiliation, we publicly announce that the proceedings following the complaints against the preschool institution are underway. Immediately after the report was published in the media, the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality, as the competent authority, contacted the parents and, after the complaints were submitted, requested a statement from the preschool institution on the very same day. The Commissioner also addressed the Educational Inspection with a request to submit a report on executed supervision. No one can deny children their right to education, which the Commissioner takes special care of. The Commissioner for the Protection of Equality, Brankica Janković, also made several public statements concerning this case.

The Commissioner reminds all citizens that they can file a complaint, if they believe that they have been discriminated against, both in this case and in other cases, and that the deadline for initiating proceedings is 90 days.
