Stock exchange bell for gender equality

Improving gender equality in the context of the climate crisis is one of the biggest global challenges of today, which is why “Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow” is the topic of this year’s “Stock exchange bell for gender equality”. Women are already recognized as more vulnerable to the impact of climate change compared to men, but also as more adjustable, and it is thus necessary to shed light on the contribution of women in the fight to mitigate climate change and build a more sustainable future for all, said the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality Brankica Janković.

Knowledge, which economists defined as the most powerful weapon in the 19th century, is a key factor in every development, including the inclusive growth we strive for. Such growth implies a concept that improves the chances, opportunities and possibilities for all citizens and connects them with the benefits for every part of society, the Commissioner pointed out.

The “Stock exchange bell for gender equality” is being held in Serbia for the fourth time and is part of a global annual event. In the period from March 4 until the end of the month, stock exchange bells will ring in more than 110 stock exchanges around the world, pointing to the key role of the business sector and financial markets in economic empowerment of women and in reducing the existing gender gap.
