{"id":61484,"date":"2025-06-12T18:03:44","date_gmt":"2025-06-12T16:03:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ravnopravnost.gov.rs\/?p=61484"},"modified":"2025-07-25T10:31:34","modified_gmt":"2025-07-25T08:31:34","slug":"commissioner-at-the-international-conference-in-sarajevo-from-gender-justice-to-sustainable-peace-a-25-year-vision","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ravnopravnost.gov.rs\/en\/commissioner-at-the-international-conference-in-sarajevo-from-gender-justice-to-sustainable-peace-a-25-year-vision\/","title":{"rendered":"Commissioner at the international conference in Sarajevo: \u201cFrom Gender Justice to Sustainable Peace: A 25-Year Vision\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Commissioner for the Protection of Equality, Brankica Jankovi\u0107, participated in the international conference \u201cFrom Gender Justice to Sustainable Peace: A 25-Year Vision\u201d, held in Sarajevo to mark 25 years since the adoption of the UN Agenda \u201cWomen, Peace and Security\u201d and 30 years since the adoption of the Beijing Declaration.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cWomen, Peace and Security\u201d Agenda remains extremely relevant today, as it recognizes the key role of women in conflict prevention, peace negotiations, peacekeeping, humanitarian initiatives, and post-conflict reconstruction. It has established a global framework aimed at ensuring greater participation of women in decision-making processes and protecting women from sexual and gender-based violence, which is especially prevalent in war zones and refugee camps.<\/p>\n<p>The main topics of the conference included an analysis of changes over the 25 years since the adoption of the Agenda, women\u2019s leadership in peace processes, access to justice \u2013 strengthening local-global connections, reinforcing the commitment to women&#8217;s participation in peace and mediation processes, funding for the WPS Agenda, and implementing partnerships for peace.<\/p>\n<p>The conference concluded that although the Agenda has been formally accepted by a large number of countries, it has not been implemented to a sufficient extent.
