The position of the elderly in the modern digital age is very complex, especially taking into account the current demographic structure. However, any justification for disrespecting their rights and\/or not providing the necessary support and assistance services is unacceptable, said the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality, Brankica Jankovi\u0107, on the occasion of the International Day of Older Persons<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The obligation of every democratic society, whose responsibility is measured precisely by the attitude towards its oldest and youngest members, as well as all other minority and marginalized social groups, is to improve their position. The Commissioner pointed out that the upcoming population census in the Republic of Serbia is a good opportunity for a realistic and data-based assessment of the situation and the creation of adequate public policies in all segments, which correspond to the structure and needs of the population. Such policies promote equality and respect for the rights of all citizens. The Commissioner pointed out that, in addition to the obligations of the state, it is also the responsibility of each of us to be in solidary and responsible, because without that there is no dignified and high-quality life.<\/p>\n

Intergenerational ties are an important and strong feature of our society that needs to be nurtured, developed and improved, which is why, once again this year, the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality, together with the Ministry of Education, traditionally organized in the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia the awarding of prizes in the competition for primary school students “Bridge of understanding – intergenerational solidarity” for the best literary work, artwork and photography.<\/p>\n

In the Literary wor<\/em>k category, the first prize went to Ana Milojevi\u0107<\/strong>, the second prize went to Pavao Huska<\/strong>, while the third place went to Ilija Had\u017ei-Puri\u0107<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In the Artwork category<\/em>, the first prize went to Andrej \u010cvorovi\u0107<\/strong>, the second place went to Milica Nikoli\u0107<\/strong>, and the third place to Olga Bojovi\u0107<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In the Photography category<\/em>, the first prize went to Sofija Raki\u0107<\/strong>, the second prize went to Sara Luki\u0107<\/strong>, while the third place went to Ilija Petrovi\u0107<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

A significant number of works were submitted for this year’s competition in all categories, and the prizes were provided by friends of the event, UniCredit Bank and the publishing house “Laguna”.<\/p>\n\n ","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
