The conference was organized by the Serbian Red Cross and the Humana S network in cooperation with the Cabinet of the Minister without Portfolio Slavica \u0110uki\u0107 Dejanovi\u0107 and the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality.<\/p>\n<p>The commissioner pointed out that older women are often discriminated against in various areas, including based on their age and based on gender, disability and health condition. After presenting several typical cases of discrimination against older women, the commissioner stated that the 21st century values \u200b\u200byouth, beauty and speed, while at the same time the traditional gender role of women is getting stronger, leading to them being neglected, discriminated and socially excluded in old age, which is why society must change its attitude towards the elderly in order to enable them to be equal and active members of the community.<\/p>\n<p>Minister Slavica \u0110uki\u0107 Dejanovi\u0107, Natasa Todorovi\u0107 from the Serbian Red Cross, Jelena Stojanovi\u0107 from the Protector of Citizens, Gordana Milovanovi\u0107 from Help Net, Slavica Stankovi\u0107 from Bread of Life and foster mother Slavica \u0110ur\u0111evi\u0107 also spoke at the conference.<\/p>\n ","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The environment and care that we provide to the elderly today is at the same time a pledge for our future, which is why there must be no room for discrimination in it, said the Commissioner for Protection of Equality Brankica Jankovi\u0107 at the conference &#8220;Invisible Women&#8221; dedicated to promoting equality of older women.
