{"id":22305,"date":"2016-03-31T14:18:58","date_gmt":"2016-03-31T12:18:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/symbolgames.net\/en\/?p=22305"},"modified":"2016-07-31T16:16:31","modified_gmt":"2016-07-31T14:16:31","slug":"press-release-regarding-the-international-transgender-day-of-visibility","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ravnopravnost.gov.rs\/en\/press-release-regarding-the-international-transgender-day-of-visibility\/","title":{"rendered":"Press release regarding the International Transgender Day of Visibility"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On the occasion of the International Transgender Day of Visibility the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality Brankica Jankovi\u0107 pointed out that trans-sexual and trans-gender persons belong to a severely marginalized group which is often subject to different forms of discrimination, although certain progress has been made towards improving their position in the society.<\/p>\n<p>Persons belonging to this group are not faced only with physical and verbal abuse, discrimination and isolation, but also encounter various difficulties when it comes to acknowledging their gender identity, primarily when it comes to obtaining personal identification documents.<br \/>\nPositive onward strides regarding the position of trans-persons in Serbia were noted and included in the Report of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in particular the adoption of new pieces of legislation and review of the existing laws sanctioning hate crimes as well as other measures aimed at combatting homophobic and transphobic acts of violence.<\/p>\n<p>However, we would wish to reiterate that much remains to be done in our society and in our country so as to improve and strengthen the status and life quality of trans-persons, said the Commissioner in her concluding remarks.<\/p>\n ","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On the occasion of the International Transgender Day of Visibility the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality Brankica Jankovi\u0107 pointed out that trans-sexual and trans-gender persons belong to a severely marginalized group which is often subject to different forms of discrimination, although certain progress has been made towards improving their position in the society.
