COMMISSIONER SUPPORTED YOUTH PLATFORM „U-REPORT“

In order to improve position of youth in the society and to make them really feel as equal members of the community, it is necessary first to hear them carefully and then to understand their point, said Commissioner for Protection of Equality Brankica Jankovic at the presentation of youth platform “U-Report”, held on the occasion of World Children’s Day and marking of 30th anniversary of UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. Platform was presented by Regina De Dominicis, Director of UNICEF in Serbia and Vanja Udovicic, Minster for Youth and Sport of Serbia.

Children and young people are the most sensitive category in every society and we often say that our role is to educate them, to teach them tolerance and equality. Nevertheless, this is not and it cannot be a one-way process. We should learn from each other in order to understand one another. This is why we have initiated interactive projects, along with continuous educations, with aim to involve young people in the process of achieving equality and to motivate them to condemn discriminatory attitudes and behaviors in their environments. We all have to learn the culture of dialogue, said Commissioner Jankovic.

“U-Report” is a social platform that helps the voice of youth to be heard and to promote their participation in creating positive social changes. “U-Report” was designed by UNICEF and it gathers around 8 millions of people from more than 60 countries, while in Serbia there are 2.500 “U-Reporters” registered.
