Commissioner for the Protection of Equality won OEBS award „Person of the Year“

Commissioner for the Protection of Equality Brankica Jankovic is the winner of this year’s award „Person of the Year“, for the contribution in the combat against discrimination and promotion of equality and tolerance, which is assigned by OSCE Mission in Serbia.

It was stated in the explanation that during the year, OSCE Mission, in partner cooperation with Commissioner Jankovic, was working on the creation of possibilities for education of judiciary representatives in the area of suppression of discrimination, strengthening of the cooperation of regional bodies dealing with the protection of equality and improvement of capacities of labor inspectors in resolving of discrimination cases at the labor market.

OEBS award “Person of the Year” presents the acknowledgment to people who have contributed to the promotion of values that this European organization stands for, among which are the rule of law, respect of human rights, protection against discrimination and other values based on the grounds of equality and tolerance.

Commissioner Jankovic will continue with daily and dedicated work on the protection, improvement and promotion of equality and therefore this great recognition presents the responsibility and the obligation to continue, without compromise and in spite of all the challenges, with activities that are making our society a better place for life for every citizen and citizen of Serbia.

This year, the award winners are also Dzeneta Agovic, director of “Impuls” organization from Tutin, Tamara Mirovic, deputy of Public Prosecutor, Nedim Sejdinovic, president of Independent Journalist Association of Vojvodina and Milos Stojkovic, media law lawyer.
