Equally to the finish line – 9th time at the Belgrade Marathon

The traditional action of the Commissioner for  Protection of Equality “Equally to the finish line” was held within the 34th Belgrade Marathon for the 9th time, with the aim of providing support to people with disabilities to participate in this sporting event. At the stand of the Commissioner, citizens had the opportunity to get acquainted with specific obstacles that persons with disabilities encounter, through socializing with athletes with disabilities, and through conversations with Commissioner for Protection of Equality and employees and to learn more about the harmfulness of discrimination and how to fight it.

Commissioner Brankica Jankovic said that this action is a nice way to point out that people with disabilities should and can be completely equal in sports and all other areas of life, which is they regularly proved by the medals that our para-athletes win at the biggest international competitions.

In addition to numerous participants in the action “Equal to the goal”, organized by the Commissioner for  Protection of Equality and the Sports Association of Persons with Disabilities of Belgrade, special guests this year were swordswomen of the Fencing Club “Strong”, winners of numerous medals, who promote gender equality in sports under the slogan “One for all, all for equality.” There were also basketball players, shooters, as well as the famous para-athlete Draženko Mitrović.

With “Walk of pleasure” in which participate athletes with disabilities, our guests, employees of the institution of Commissioner and many other citizens, this year’s manifestation “Equally to the finish line” was ended.
